Reporting to Parents
Timeline
- Meet the Teacher meetings occur in Term One of each year at which the class programme is discussed and an opportunity to ask general questions is provided.
- Parents have a formal opportunity, mid year, to meet with their child’s teacher to discuss pupils progress at the Learning Conference. This is a three-way process encouraging a partnership between teacher, parent and student. Depending on the age and stage of development the student role in this conference is increased.
- At the end of each term a Learning Celebration is held. This living portfolio gives students an opportunity to share their learning with their parents and serves as a culmination of the term’s work.
- One written report will be prepared and issued to parents / caregivers in December.
- Parents can avail themselves of the opportunity of visiting the school during school hours. Meeting with a teacher to discuss a child’ progress must be by appointment or at the discretion of the teacher. The school has an ‘open door’ policy.
- Other parent / teacher meetings will be held at appropriate times.
The school will report to the parents of Maori students at a special meeting to be held each odd numbered year.
