Christchurch is the main city of the South Island with a population of over 330,000. One third of Christchurch is devoted to parks and gardens, earning it the reputation of the 'garden city'. The city is noted for its warmth and hospitality to visitors and its extensive amenities provide everything the visitor could want. The increasingly multi-cultural nature of the city is reflected in the variety of restaurants, cafes, shops and open markets that cater for every need. The city is a leader in New Zealand education, with two universities, (Canterbury and Lincoln), a Polytechnic, a College of Education and Language Schools.
The school is located in New Brighton, one of Christchurch’s eastern suburbs. It benefits from its close proximity to QE II Park. QE II is Christchurch’s leading leisure and sports centre and includes three pools, athletics track, the Christchurch School of Gymnastics, driving range and golf course and cricket ground. New Brighton provides easy access to several beaches and a variety of active clubs.
